Islamabad: After rejecting the request of Sunni Etihad Council to allot specific seats, the Election Commission of Pakistan started the process of allotting the said specific seats to other parliamentary parties.

According to the notifications issued by the Election Commission, the 3 vacant seats reserved for minorities in the National Assembly have also been divided among Muslim League (N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

3 minority seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been allotted to various parliamentary parties, out of which Muslim League (N), PPP and Jamiat Ulema Islam have got one seat each.

The Election Commission has also issued the notification of reserved seats for women in the Sindh Assembly where People’s Party’s Samita Afzal Syed and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan’s Fawzia Hameed have been allotted reserved seats for women.

The reserved seat for minorities in the Sindh Assembly has been allotted to Sudhumal Surinder Walasai of the People’s Party, while sources say that the allotment of other reserved seats will also be done soon.
