Demanding more steps from the government for the new program of the IMF

Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has demanded further steps from the government for the new program while the government has assured the IMF of freezing the revolving credit of electricity and gas.

According to the details, the IMF has demanded concrete measures from the government to end the theft of electricity and gas, while the sources say that the IMF has asked for a time frame to hand over the management of the government discos to the private sector.

The IMF has advised the government to outsource electricity bill collection in high-loss areas. The IMF has also called for the cessation of local gas supply to the Captopower plants.

According to the sources, the IMF has also demanded that 4 major plants in the government sector should be run at full capacity, while digitalization in the FBR has also been demanded to be completed quickly.

According to FBR sources, in the negotiations, it has been agreed to increase the use of technology instead of staff to increase tax collection. Officials have assured the IMF of achieving the tax target for the current fiscal year.

Apart from this, the IMF was briefed on the process of full tax collection from agriculture, shops and real estate. FBR has assured tax collection from real estate and retailers to achieve the tax target for the current financial year.
