The supermassive black hole in the galaxy

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has discovered the deepest active supermassive black hole ever found in the universe. This black hole is present in the galaxy CEERS 1019, formed 57 million years after the Big Bang, i.e. 13 billion years ago. This black hole has a mass equal to about 9 million suns in our solar system. It is a very small mass compared to the mass of black holes discovered by other telescopes in the early universe.

Other supermassive black holes weigh more than a billion suns. Spotting such obscure black holes at great distances is a special feature of the James Webb Space Telescope, and for this the telescope uses highly sensitive instruments to detect invisible light.

Astronomers not only discovered this black hole, but also identified two more nearby black holes that formed about a billion years after the Big Bang and are less massive than other black holes of this era. .
